Troop 55 Fall Camporee | |||
The Fall Camporee was held at Pine Lake State Park and 8 Troops attended.
It is a beautiful park with lakes, woods and a nearby cave. This year had activities for the scouts as well as contests. Troop 55 did very well. There was a Fishing Derby - Troop 55 swept 1st thru 3rd place! The Eagle Patrol also took 2nd place in the Dutch Oven Cookoff.
After a chilly September evening, everyone is waiting for breakfast before the days activities start.
Among the activities, the scouts learned about birds and animals. |
|||
The scouts had a chance to canoe and kayak.
Everyone had a great time kayaking! |
|||
What a wonderful area to canoe! The lake was very calm.
Lookout! Another close call. |
|||
After canoes and kayaks, it was back to the stations. First up was
learning about lashings and knots.
The groups then met up for Orienteering. |
|||
Studying the maps carefully.
Teamwork is important for a good Patrol
Downstream from the dam was a very good fishing hole. Everyone fishing that area caught many fish.
It's important for a scout to know how to fillet a fish |
|||
I don't know if Sam can fillet a fish, but he
sure knows how to kiss one! While there were no awards for fish kissing, I believe he should
be awarded First Place!
Dinner after a long day. What a great weekend! Troop 55 showed their spirit, style and their teamwork. Could you ask for anything more? |
