Troop 55 Root River Bike Trip

Root River may be one of the most scenic areas to ride a bike. There are options for long rides, difficult hills, scenic rides and just about any combination. 12 scouts and 10 adult leaders went to experience the bike trail. Nobody was disappointed! 10 of the 12 scouts finished over 50 miles of biking.

We started out Saturday morning. Not too hot, only a little wind. After about 10 miles, we stopped in Peterson. As luck would have it, they have a wonderful shop that sells homemade ice cream. What a great stop!

After another 11 miles, we stopped on the trail for lunch. A word of warning. The map shows several "picnic sites". Each site was one picnic table.

After lunch, it was back to the trail. Time to head back (only 21 miles to where we started).

Sign In case you didn't know which town you were in. this was a nice water stop. At this stop, we decided about going an extra 10 mile to get homemade ROOTBEER and the 50 miles or heading back to camp.
After a long ride a good dutch oven meal sounds great! oven
corn Deb and Loren made sure we had enough fresh picked sweet corn. Lets see . . . 70 ears of corn, 24 scouters . . that might be enough. The corn was excellent. Thanks again, Deb and Loren.
After a long bike ride, what's better than a long game of ultimate frisbee? frisbee
