Brushy Creek 2007

Brushy Creek is a newer State Park with the lake being filled in 1998. While it is a beautiful place, unfortunately they left many, many trees in the lake. It was thought they would quickly fall into the water, but that hasn't happened. The lake is 60 feet deep in many places and the trees go 15-20 feet above the water, even in the main channel. Miles of trails, and beautiful grounds. A great place to camp.

The campgrounds were not very busy the weekend we were there. As you can see, very well maintained.

After the tents were set up, the fire was started.

Al and Roger show the scouts how they make omelettes. The scouts then showed them how its done!

Besides fishing in a boat, they had several nice piers. Dan shows off his fishing style.

Austin claims he caught an almost 20" bass. No adult saw it, but the other scouts state he did. Too bad it got off the line before he landed it.

They have a wonderful sand beach.

There are more trees throughout the lake.

Nick brings more wood for the fire.

Al tends to the sweetcorn

What could be better than dutch ovens cooking with lasagne in one, chocolate cake in the other, and sweet corn on the fire? Supper is only a few minutes away.

Another fun campout. I am looking forward to going back again in the future.
