2008 July Root River Bike Trip

A smaller than usual group headed to the Root River Bike trail. This is a beautiful area with wonderful paved trails. We stayed at a wonderful campground. Everyone finished over 50 miles and had a great time.

Part of our campsite. This area had flooded earlier in the year and the grass was pretty thin in areas. We were able to set tents up on a higher area that still had plenty of grass.
Some of the adult tents and a few bikes ready to go.

Al and Adam were in charge of breakfast. And we ate really well . . .

The bikes lined up and ready to go.

We stopped in Peterson first. Next stop was in Rushford. They have an AWESOME ice cream shop there. But, it wasn't open yet ( we had 20 minutes to wait). Luckily, it was Rushford Days, with plenty to watch.

Dan and Carson decide what to do while waiting.

The pedal tractor pull was really fun to watch

The kids worked really hard. The weight moved foward as they pedalled forward. Unfortunately, for our scouts, it was only for 4-6 year olds.

Later in the day, a Polka group was playing.

This was our last stop in Lanesboro. We had biked 48 miles and everyone was ready for homemade Rootbeer. It was worth the wait.

Dan, Carson, Adam, Jan and Ben enjoy a frosty rootbeer.

Carson had a littel too much rootbeer.

Jan and Ben prepare supper. After 52 miles, everyone was ready for a great meal, and we were not disappointed.

This was a really fun trip. Everyone made the entire ride. We had several fun stops, great food and wonderful scenery.

In the future, this may also be great place to canoe or kayak.
