OKPIK 2008 Winnebago Council
In January, 16 scouts and scouters attended OKPIK for a weekend of winter camping. Of the 16 members, 6 were from Troop 55. We were split into 2 patrols and each went to different lakes to camp.

The night before going to the lake, everyone gets to sleep in a cabin. At least it has a heater. Ours was too hot during the night.

There is an orientation session that night.
They go over the essentials of winter camping to be sure everyone is safe and can have a fun trip. They mentioned drinking plenty of water MANY times.
Yes, it's the CHICKEN DANCE to stay warm!
Snacks after the training session. And, of course, the trading post is open. It's a good place to pick up anything you forgot to bring.

The dogs really do enjoy running, and the scouts enjoyed the ride.
A scout is always prepared. Here they show how to do a fire even on a frozen lake.
