Spring Camporee April 2009

This year, the Spring Camporee was held in a small park in Akley, Iowa. This is a really nice park and the city was incredibly helpful. The planning group did a wonderful job in setting up the weekend!

The weekend started with a downpour Friday night. We were able to get most of the tents up before the big storm came. Once the lightning started, we headed to the shelter. After the rain, we set up the dining.

Once, the dining fly was set up, it was time for the Cracker Barrel - snacks, Oh Yea!!

Most of the tents stayed dry the first night despite the heavy rains.

The morning was spent doing a service project. Last years flood left the woods in bad shape with logs scattered everywhere. The woods were under 6 feet of water during the flood.

After lunch, the wash station gets busy.

The city provided wagon rides through the park and into town. They have a renovated building filled with antiques and information about Akley. More importantly, it has a SODA FOUNTAIN in it. Hand scooped and packed malts, sundaes, etc. And they were gooooood!

The Camporee had a contest for Dutch Oven Desserts.

Prizes for the Adult entries.
