2010 National Jamboree Day 4
I had part of the day off and spent it wondering around visiting different parts of the Jamboree.
I started the afternoon in the farthest area of the Jamboree. In this area, they have an "old British" Settlement. |
An early version of basketball? |
He was confused by our "black magic box". |
I'm sure they only kept Rootbeer in it. . . |
One of our hosts. |
A game of tug-o-war. |
Order of the Arrow set up the Mysterium Compass. The main 2 hour show was only for those under 18, so I don't know what it was, but the boys enjoyed it. There was a huge museum inside filled with scouting memerabilia. |

The unveiling of the new Scouting stamp. |
There was a 2 hour + walk through on conservation. Extremely well done and interactive. I even got a patch out of it! Here they are panning gold. |
I finally got back the SubCamp 14. |
Troop 1448's gateway. |
Part of the camp. |
The tents lined up in nice rows. |
3 of the 4 leaders. The boys must be having fun. At 3 in the afternoon, there were only 3 boys in camp! |
There was a large area about Disability Awareness. I was amazed and pleased to see a huge number of scouts having fun in this area. |
Learning to use a walking stick. |
Archery in a wheelchair. The story was you were wounded in battle, lost both legs and your left arm. |
Bowling. |
Wheelchair backetball was very popular. The Veteran who was playing basketball with the scouts had lost both legs and his right arm in the war. |
Crutch obstacle course. |
How do you get those items out of the cabinet? |
The final update today comes from the other side of the area. The boys can learn to sail if they wish. Looked like fun. |
