2010 National Jamboree
I will try an update this page with photos from
Jamboree as I have time. My experience will be different from what the boys experience. Each staff members experience will also differ. Mine will start with the medical Staff.
From the main Highway, there were big signs to make sure you could find your way. It worked! |
My position is working at the Wilcox Center. This is actually about 4-5 miles outside the main Jamboree site. It is a long bus ride back and forth. However, we have barracks to stay in instead of tents like the staff that are staying in the main Jamboree areas.
The inside of one of the barracks. Doesn't look too bad - yet. |
Some of the outside eating area from our mess hall.
What will become my home away from home - the Wilcox Medical Center Clinic. |
There is a hospital here that I will also be working at. Straight out of MASH, tent and all.
Another view of Jambo-General Hospital |
The adults did as much patch trading as the scouts.
Some of the bus transportation that the boys will get to know very well. The buses run throughout the Jamboree area. |
Just behind the outdoor dining area was a weather balloon.
No scouts are here yet, but the trading posts are very busy. There are 4 different Trading Posts, one by each Sub Camp area. Can't imagine the lines once the scouts are here. |
An inflatable "something" outside the Trading Post.
The main screen for the Huge Arena Shows. |
To give you an idea of the size of the place. This is one third of the space.
Many different type of displays. |
The National Eagle Scout Association tent.
Some of the famous Eagle Scouts you can meet at this tent. |
There are many areas around the activity centers to get water.
More water options. |
There is a low power Radio Station for the Jamboree. Can be received only on the base and a few miles off the base. Lots of updates and important information for everyone.
All the important things from home are here. |
The Ice Cream stations will be very popular.
There are medical centers throughout the subcamps and around activity centers. |
Tents for Jamboree reporting staff.
And National News Crews. |
The ice cream stands were open.
as was Dunkin' Donuts. |
There were a large display about the NEW High Adventure Base in West Virginia, opening in 2013.
The drawing of the landscape looks really fun. When it is complete, there will be hiking, whitewater rafting, ocean based adventures and lots more. |
Cub Scouting history. | |
And some of the old uniforms, books, etc. |

There were supposed to be bikes for us to use. Eventually, there were lots of bikes, but too many people around to make them very useful. |
