Yellow River 2013 | |
Yellow River has always been a favorite camp site for the scouts. This time we went during a nice time of the year. The weather was great and the scouts had a lot of fun!
Saturday morning, one patrol starts to cook breakfast. |
Al cooked a great breakfast in dutch ovens for the adults. Other scouts hangout by the fire. Do we ever have a campout without a fire?
Pancakes! Oh Yea!!! |
After breakfast, some scouts went climbing, some fishing and some hiking.
The small river running through the campground was scenic. |
While we couldn't get them to bite, there were trout in the stream.
another part of the stream. |
Tim tried, but was just taunted by the trout.
Looks to be out of Fish and Stream, but he was catching them! |
Lunch. Ham, turkey, beef, pastrami and chees on bagels.
The older scouts decided to cook a chicken over an open fire. How cool is that? It was REALLY good!!! |
Mmmmmm. | |
After lunch, some of the scouts went for a hike. |
It was about 5 miles, including up a tall hill to a fire lookout tower.
Breaktime. |
The scouts at the base of the tower.
A long way up there! |
The adults had dutch oven pork and rice and cobbler.
Sunday morning was foggu. |
Very foggy. |
