Alexs' Eagle Project 2011
For his Eagle Project, Alex decided to build a firepit and seating area at Orchard Hill Church. The church had done some renovations and remodeling inside and out. The church felt an area like this would get a lot of use.
The start. Deciding exactly where to start digging and leveling the ground. |
A white outline marks the area that needs to have grass removed and the ground leveled. |
The grass is gone and a base of gravel is in the hole. |
Yes, he really is leveling gravel. It's important. |
Next, a layer of sand is placed. |
And packed down. |
Then the edging strips are placed. |
Leveling out the base one last time. |

A few screws to secure the seat. |

The pavers are in place. It looks good. |
The first layers of the stone ring is in place and the base of the firepit is in place. |
Each brick was cemented to keep it in place. |
Nick is in charge of the glue, Alex supervises. |

Jan helps out with a new tube. |
