Highway Cleanup April 2006
Troop 55 has taken care of this stretch of Highway for over 15 years.
This year we had a bright, sunny, warm day and a great turnout of scouts and scouters. |
A large group showed up to work and get our needed service hours. Here we are getting last minute instructions and equipment - bags, safety vests, etc... |
This must be the place. The start of our 2 mile stretch. |
We divided into two groups to take care of both sides. Interesting things were found again this year. . . The worst - A very dead skunk - very bad being downwind of this! |
With all of the rain we have had, the ditch was now a small creek. |
Amazing how much stuff gets absorbed into the water. Cardboard, cups, cans, car parts, fence posts - only a partial list of what we found and removed from the ditch. |
The garbage bags really were THAT big and filled quite a few of them. Roger and Steven make sure Michelle puts the trash in the bag. |
Almost finished. Dan carries one of the last bags with many left by the side of the road behind us. |
A big thank you to Susan for getting everything set up for us and making the cleanup go so smoothly. Thank you to all of the scouts and scouters who came out to help clean up our stretch of Highway. With lots of help, it goes much easier and faster. See you this fall for the next clean up!!! |
